17 Weeks

I'm sorry I've been a terrible blogger and have not updated in weeks. I have been busy, as we have found a 2-bedroom townhouse and are moving in next week, and also just got back from 5 days in Vegas. But I know everyone wants updates...

I am now 17 weeks pregnant and from what I understand, the baby has developed to the size of a turnip. For those of you unfamiliar with this root vegetable, that's about 5 ounces and 5 inches long. My belly is popping out a little bit more everyday and I am wearing only maternity pants (and sweatpants. lots of sweatpants). Unfortunately, someone who did not know me would probably still think I was just chubby. Oh well.

I spent an exciting 5 days in Vegas with my parents, brother, Tara, and most of the Joneses' extended family. We got to see Andy perform in Cirque du Soleil's "O" and also saw the Cirque show "Love", as well as Terry Fator from America's Got Talent. Andy was fantastic and it was wonderful to see everyone and hang out in the heat for a few days.

Our new townhouse is about 15 minutes away, in New Westminster. It is part of a housing co-op, so we have a bit more control over the house and will participate in all sorts of community board meetings, etc. It seems to be a great neighborhood with lots of kids and families, and is right next to the very cool Queen's Park. We also have a small yard which will be a significant upgrade for Indiana.

I think Indiana knows something is up, as he has been especially gentle and cuddly with me over the past couple weeks. They say dogs are intuitive like that. He spoons next to my belly at night, so I guess he will notice as he gets pushed farther and farther away from me. Or as the baby starts to kick him. Hmm.

And yes, we will be finding out if it is a girl or a boy, hopefully soon. I am headed to the doctor for a checkup tomorrow and he should order an ultrasound to make sure we are developing normally and find out the sex. If you haven't heard the scoop, Dave is one of the third generation of three boys on the Jones side (as in, no Jones girls born for over 3 generations). So, we're rooting for a girl, just to see if we can do the impossible!
